We are thrilled to announce, Mary Anne Walsh of Roetzel and Andress has been hired to represent the HSMG and the handcrafted soap industry in Washington, DC, she will commence work on September 1st, 2010.

For more information on Mary Anne please read my previous post.

Mary Anne had this to say about getting down to work with the HSMG:

“My colleague, Rick Limardo, and I are very much looking forward to working with you and your members.  We know that the stakes are high for the handcrafted soap industry, and we welcome the challenge to make sure that your voice and compelling message is heard and understood by lawmakers.”

Now, more than ever, we need your help.  Please consider donating to our Legislative Advocacy Fund or join the HSMG and have your voice heard in Washington.

Look for more updates soon as we begin to lay out our strategic plan, on the blog and in member e-News.

We would like to welcome Mary Anne to the team and look forward to working with her to make a difference.

  1. Thank you for sharing this exciting news, and congratulations! Along with so many others, I am celebrating with you! I am delighted to be able to work with you, Mary Anne and everyone else striving to achieve reasonable cosmetics law reform. I have made a donation and will make more as we move forward, and I will encourage others to do the same!

  2. Thank you, Leigh, for your diligent efforts in this regard. A great many people will be adding a monthly donation to their budget for this cause beginning in September. Thank you, as well, for keeping us informed of important updates. We have high hopes for this particular caucus; our livelihood depends on it.

  3. Having been to DC to help represent the legislative concerns of small cosmetic companies, it’s become painfully obvious how desperately microbusinesses need a consistent, DC-based voice in the debate and a lobbyist is the only realistic way of achieving that. I am thrilled that HSMG has taken the critical step of securing the lobbyist we need and raising the funds necessary to have our voices heard. I’m proud to help support your efforts and hope that those of us whose hopes and dreams rest in the beauty industry will come together at this critical time to support a most important cause.
