It’s been just over a year since I was added to the HSCG team and Lani was promoted to be the Member Services Director, and now we’re excited to announce that we have expanded again!

Meet Sara -our newest addition to the HSCG staff! If you have called the office recently, you may have already had the pleasure of speaking with her.  Sara started on October 5th and has since taken over the daily administrative duties as our new Member Services Rep! If you have questions about your membership, insurance, website access, or just want to say hi, Sara is your go-to girl! With her sweet personality and sense of humor, she fits right in with our HSCG community. Plus she has wonderful taste in scarves, no?

3 Super Quick Facts About Sara:

>> She is a mother of 2 children, 4 cats, and 3 ferrets (you know you count your pets as kids too, don’t lie).

>> In her down time she’s either engrossed in a mystery novel, or flexing her creative muscle with some hardcore drawing (did we mention she designs tattoos as well?)

>> She LOVES the Big Apple! (Her family drives to NYC at least 4 times a month – If that’s not dedication, I don’t know what is!)

Because of our increasing number of office staff, Lani has been promoted  to be our Office Manager! She is responsible for all daily behind-the-scenes operations, including all financial and insurance-related matters, as well as managing all aspects of the HSCG’s Certification Program. I have since moved into the position of being the Guild’s full-time Marketing Director and am responsible for managing our social media accounts and marketing materials/services, as well as filling the role of Online Support tech by assisting our Webmaster in the general maintenance of our website. We’re Expanding: Meet Nicole!

Have you contacted headquarters lately? We’re excited to announce that we’re expanding our administrative support here at HSCG headquarters. Yes, it was just last year that we welcomed Lani Dake to the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild team as Executive Assistant. One year and innumerable phone calls and emails later, Lani is now serving as HSCG Member Services Director. So who’s answering your queries now? It may just be our newest addition, Nicole Carte, who started part-time at headquarters September 15.

We moved!

In 2011, the HSCG signed a lease on a suite of offices at 178 Elm Street in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY.  We had 3 offices, a foyer space and a few storage closets.  We anticipated that we would be able to grow into this space and we certainly have!

In August of this year we hired our second full time employee, Executive Assistant Lani Dake.  Many of you have had the pleasure of dealing with Lani through email or phone; she has become our Member Services specialist.

We’ve experienced unbelievable growth in membership since 2011, currently exceeding 2,100 members and well on our way to 2,500 and beyond! As our membership continues to climb, we anticipate needing to hire more staff. So, it’s no surprise to hear we are rapidly outgrowing our current suite of offices.


Our landlord approached us with a solution to this problem this fall and after careful consideration and a decision by the HSCG Board of Directors, we have decided to take the plunge and move to a bigger suite of offices in this building.


Prior to our move-in, the landlord upgraded the suite with 3 new windows, new carpeting and new paint (score!). We are now in a suite with 4 offices, a large foyer with ample room to display your fantastic products, and a walk in closet for storage. The best news of all, though? No change of address! You can still reach us at 178 Elm St, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
