We’re Expanding: Meet Nicole!

Have you contacted headquarters lately? We’re excited to announce that we’re expanding our administrative support here at HSCG headquarters. Yes, it was just last year that we welcomed Lani Dake to the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild team as Executive Assistant. One year and innumerable phone calls and emails later, Lani is now serving as HSCG Member Services Director. So who’s answering your queries now? It may just be our newest addition, Nicole Carte, who started part-time at headquarters September 15.

Get in touch any time at 1-866-900-SOAP – both Lani and Nicole field phone calls to headquarters. Current HSCG office hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm EDT. Nicole will be fielding emails sent to admin@soapguild.org while Lani will happily handle all of your membership questions through MemberServices@soapguild.org. Find more ways to contact us right here.

A big welcome to Nicole and virtual congratulations to Lani – thanks for keeping us running!

We moved!

In 2011, the HSCG signed a lease on a suite of offices at 178 Elm Street in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY.  We had 3 offices, a foyer space and a few storage closets.  We anticipated that we would be able to grow into this space and we certainly have!

In August of this year we hired our second full time employee, Executive Assistant Lani Dake.  Many of you have had the pleasure of dealing with Lani through email or phone; she has become our Member Services specialist.

We’ve experienced unbelievable growth in membership since 2011, currently exceeding 2,100 members and well on our way to 2,500 and beyond! As our membership continues to climb, we anticipate needing to hire more staff. So, it’s no surprise to hear we are rapidly outgrowing our current suite of offices.

Our landlord approached us with a solution to this problem this fall and after careful consideration and a decision by the HSCG Board of Directors, we have decided to take the plunge and move to a bigger suite of offices in this building.

Prior to our move-in, the landlord upgraded the suite with 3 new windows, new carpeting and new paint (score!). We are now in a suite with 4 offices, a large foyer with ample room to display your fantastic products, and a walk in closet for storage. The best news of all, though? No change of address! You can still reach us at 178 Elm St, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

We’d love to welcome you to our new office. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and say hello!

Member Card Comeback

Do you remember what happened when you used to renew your Guild membership? Perhaps you recall opening your mailbox to find that shiny folder of information with a membership card tucked very officiously in the front pocket waiting for you inside? Birds were chirping, your soap always behaved….okay, perhaps we embellish. Those rose-tinted glasses are addictive.

If you joined in 2011, you may not remember any of that. We moved HSCG headquarters in 2011 from one coast to the other (where it still resides, in Saratoga Springs, New York). While moving massive quantities of paper and getting settled into our new digs, we put the membership card program on hold.

Two years later, we’ve dusted off the card printer and we are proud to announce membership cards are officially back (we know you’ve missed flashing your card at shows). Once again, whether you are joining the HSCG or renewing your HSCG membership, we’ll send out a packet outlining your membership benefits, current vendor members (pssst, many of them offer discounts exclusive to members), referral cards (which you should be using up right now in an effort to get your free ride to #soapconf14), your receipt, and most importantly, your membership card. You can once again say you are a card-carrying member of the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild.

Anyone who has renewed since July 1st, the start of our fiscal year, will receive the shiny, new membership card. Headquarters is busily printing out the first 591 cards, to be mailed next week. After this first round of membership card catch-up, we’ll be sending out membership cards weekly. Look for yours in the mail when you join or renew.

Welcome back, membership cards, we’ve missed you!
