Living in Alaska is incredibly rough on the skin, so using soap that doesn’t lead to dry, cracked skin is a tall order. Karen P Harvey, owner, designer, creator, and cleanup crew for Talkeetnagirl Designs, makes soap that more than lives up to the challenge. “It always amazes me that such simple ingredients can make such luscious creams and balms. I am encouraged by those who use my products. People LOVE them and want more, so I continue!”
Talkeetnagirl Designs is unquestionably inspired by the Alaskan landscape. Karen lives and crafts the company’s products near Talkeetna, Alaska, just 60 air miles from Denali (Mt. McKinley), the tallest mountain in North America. She incorporates local waters in her products and locally made Denali Brewing Co. Chuli Stout Beer in some of her soaps. Locals looking for soap that takes off fish slime and dirt in cold water without wrecking their hands love the grittiness of Talkeetnagirl Designs Denali Granite Soap.
Karen is truly passionate about her products. Aside from keeping family and friends well-stocked with her soaps, you’ll always find a jar of Talkeetnagirl Designs signature body cream and eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary and tea tree-infused Breathe and Soothe salve in her truck.
What makes her products fly off the shelves, Karen says, is that they’re “simple, and they work! You can spend much more, but you won’t find better products.” Get a sneak peek of soaps and new product development on the Talkeetnagirl blog. Follow Takeetnagirl Designs on Facebook to find out where the company’s products will be popping up next. If you’re in Alaska, you’ll find Talkeetnagirl Designs at Talkeetna Gifts and Collectibles Tri River Charters, Denali Brewing Company, and True Value Hardware in Anchorage, Alaska. You can also find the latest creams, soaps, balms, salves, and scrubs online.
We’re excited to give Karen a warm welcome to her first HSCG conference this May in toasty Tucson, Arizona!
Thanks, Karen, for sharing Talkeetnagirl Designs with us!
