Spotlight – Debbie May

Spotlights0 Comments

Debbie May of Wholesale Supplies Plus, has been a member of the HSMG since 2006. She joined and shortly thereafter planned and executed the first ever Networking Event at the HSMG Conference in Portland, Oregon. This conference was attended by 120 soapmakers and they couldn’t say enough about how the social, networking time was both invaluable and very welcome after a full day.

In 2007 Debbie and Wholesale Supplies Plus came back again and threw an even bigger party with a luau theme on the 12th floor of the Sheraton Westport in St. Louis, Missouri. The 2007 Conference was attended by 148 soapmakers and the party was an even bigger hit than the year before. Debbie and Dave May greeted attendees personally at the door with lays and good wishes and the food and music were fabulous. Debbie also did her first ever presentation at the conference on marketing.

Then in 2008 Debbie topped it all by throwing the best party yet with a special appearance by…. Elvis!! The 2008 Conference was attended by 225 soapmakers (the biggest in HSMG history), and the food was served by The New England Culinary Institute at The Inn at Essex in Burlington, Vermont. All around the party people were laughing and enjoying talking soap with like-minded people, all while hearing the crooner in the background. Dancing broke out and made the event even more enjoyable and memorable.

In addition to planning this party, Debbie spoke, not once, not twice but SIX TIMES! With topics like “Expanding Your Offerings” and “MP Soapmaking” it’s amazing that her voice held out for all three days of the conference.

It is due to the generous support of members like Debbie May that the HSMG is growing at such an amazing rate. We are thrilled to put the spotlight on Debbie, be sure to thank her personally if you get the chance. She is currently working to stop The FDA Globalization Act of 2008, visit the Wholesale Supplies Plus Blog for more info.

Thank you, Debbie!
